MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF SCHOOL

Namaste from Bridgetown Preschool and Skillery!
Hope you've all had a good September month? With the monsoon almost ending and the winter months approaching the cool winds that were felt at Bridgetown have seen a lot of outdoor learning and fun.

To begin with the unit for PP1 - "Let's play outside" saw the little ones experience learning in the open environment. It was amazing to see them adapt so well and participate in the planned activities that would nurture their curiosity.
The toddlers and nursery children were seen extending and experiencing their learning on the unit - "This is me"! As you scroll down through the newsletter you will get to see glimpses of the different activities that occurred during the month of September.
Bridgetown snippets for the month of October:
Topic - Independent play Encouraging independent play is essential for their development and provide parents with some much needed break.
Here are some tips:

  • Create a safe and stimulating environment by providing age appropriate toys and materials that would nurture curiosity and learning.
  • Set a routine that has dedicated playtime. Being consistent will help them understand the importance of independent play.
  • Offer choices for a few play options as this empowers them to make decisions and increase their engagement with the chosen activity.
  • Model Independent play. Play with your child initially, gradually step back and give them space to explore and play on their own.
  • Limit screen time as this can hinder independent play. Instead encourage hands-on activities as this will foster their creativity and imagination.
